Overview: Diabetes

Diabetes can cause significant vision damage, especially if left unchecked and untreated. Eye-related complications from diabetes include glaucoma, intraocular bleeding, retinal detachment and scarring, and macular swelling. To help prevent these issues, the American Diabetes Association recommends that every diabetic patient undergo a yearly screening eye exam. Patients who exhibit signs of diabetes in the eye will usually need more frequent checks.

Dr. Joseph has managed thousands of diabetic patients during his career, and he is adept at picking up even subtle diabetic eye changes. Identifying these subtle changes leads to earlier treatment and a better chance to maintain your full visual potential.
