Overview: Prescription Eye Drops for Dry Eye Disease

Restasis (cyclosporine) and Xiidra (lifitigrast) are two different prescription eye drops frequently used to help control dry eye disease. In fact, they are the only two FDA approved medications for the treatment of dry eyes. Both drops have anti-inflammatory properties and promote tear production. While both are similar in many ways, there are some specific differences between the two that can impact which drop is best for a patient. Dr. Joseph can assess if you are a candidate for either of these prescription drops and tailor a treatment regimen specific to your eyes.

Cost

In most instances, these prescriptions will be covered by your insurance plan. If your plan does not cover the medication, however, the pharmaceutical companies who produce these drops will frequently provide an effective solution to minimize your cost.
